I’m sorry but trump has always been a low life mob boss and I didn’t have to live in Manhattan to know that. I just followed an old Southern adage that says, “ The louder you brag, the less you have.”

All hat and no cattle. For those of us who do live in Manhattan, Trump has always been an idiot showman and swindler. It still seems incredible that this orange buffoon was ever President of this great nation.

Expand full comment

Perhaps this "great" nation, great because of its founding principles, is becoming not so great as it loses sight of those principles. I have always thought that it needed vast improvement in many areas, such as its dependence on a perpetual state of war, instituted during the Truman administration, to bolster its economy. Just one of its very visible skeletons that has tumbled out of the closet.

Our Constitution was always meant to be updated that why we have amendments that have been added and ratified by the requisite number of states. A funny thing happened after The Equal Rights Amendment looked as if if might get ratified though. Someone must have thought it was enough that women had been given the “right” to vote so having equal rights as men would definitely be a bridge too far so all forward momentum ground to a screeching halt either one state short or one state too late.

Change is scary though, especially to those who like things right where they are or who can see things much better for themselves no matter the little people who may be inconvenienced. It’s change that challenges us though. It’s change that has carried humankind to this point. Those who found change onerous were left in the dust of progress. Our Constitution used to be a living document. I fear it’s been cast in concrete out of fear and greed.

I think every candidate for higher office should pass a mental health screening, done by competent medical personnel. We have a right to know about the physical health of a candidate for president -- why not a mental health exam as well? If anything, after the example of Trump (and a few others, like Nixon), this nation should recognize the importance of a balanced and healthy mind to run this government!

That's where I was pointed, too . . . we keep forgetting, this is not normal.

We keep criticizing the clothes of the zombie, instead of saying . . . 'Hey! Zombie! In our White House! In our public discourse! Hey!'

Don T should never have held an executive position, in any organization, public or private. It's right in his name: 'Don'T!' He's not fit to be a dog catcher. He's not fit to run a crematory. Yes, I know those are positions of substantial responsibility, requiring character, heart and competence. I just couldn't think of anything so idiotically simple, he might be almost qualified.

When the Electoral College gave him the White House, the entire R establishment should have mobilized to keep him out, at any cost. It should have acted earlier. There was lip service, then lips firmly applied to derriere . . . gross. After all, no majority selected him, sensibly, in any state, even out of the minority of R voters actually voting in the primaries. But the R party did not prevent the unthinkable. It did not.

His only understandable money, as I read the history I never wanted to know a single damn thing about, came from the idiot show, 'The Apprentice.' Talk about suspension of disbelief, and gag reflexes, and . . .

Then it occurred to me that I had read that 20 million people watched that. No. Then I realized that the money was paid for viewers, and that all parties -- the network, the audience metric company, and the show itself -- all would benefit from distorting audience numbers to the high side, even the advertisers in some weird ways. ( 'Oh, yeah, boss, there were *so* many viewers . . . ' )

But how could anyone wonder if those audience numbers could have been corrupted . . . ? Nah . . . b.rad

Would any of us have had this child-man in our own home?

What we could do is share what a healthy grown up person looks like and acts like. Enough of sifting through the ashes of terrible sadness. Send the man home where he belongs and get on with what needs to be done to save America.

Absolutely agree with the mental health issue. (See my comment above.) He belongs in an institution, one way or the other. His behaviors are clearly criminal, his personality disorders are quite visible, but I also believe there is a deep, possibly developmental, disorder in Trump's psyche which has yet to be determined (I suspect he is somewhere on the autistic scale, possibly Asperger's). I think a lot of Trump's anger and hatred are the result of his awareness of his own deficits, which he defends against to the maximum degree.

McConnell's long delay in responding to Trump's threats/insults may be a sign of fear for the personal safety of himself & his wife. Remember that Trump insulted Cruz's wife & slandered his father, & after some initial pushback, Cruz soon became 1 of Trump's most vocal backers. Graham & Rubio suffered insults by Trump & then became obsequiously supportive of Trump. Very odd how pusillanimous & fawning they've become, as if they've been blackmailed. It seems to me a large part of the current problem with Trump and Kump is that they were rarely called out back in 2015 and 2016 when a lot of the insanity started. Trump could say anything crude, rude, inciting, hateful, inaccurate, and more and the media broadcast it while their balance coverage for Hilary Clinton was "Ben Gazi" or "30,000 emails." The media loved it because they had never seen such appalling behavior in a presidential candidate in our lifetime. It was like a joke for some of them while a lot of Americans bought the BS and swallowed it whole because Trump's pretend rage seemed to match their own rage that a Black man was president and actually did a good job (can't have that), some hadn't recovered from the 2008 recession because the banks were more important than the people (only partly Obama's fault), prices were too high, and the Democrats were nominating a woman. That last one was probably worse than the rest, except maybe the racism. At the "debates" Trump was permitted to stalk the opponents and was expected to give no coherent answers to any of the questions asked. His softball questions told his followers nothing but his stalking told them Trump was in their eyes "a manly man!" The Republican candidates who were opposing Trump told the truth about who Trump is and what he does. Suddenly, after Trump got electoral college elected, they "forgot" who he was and bowed and scraped to him and went on the attack against anyone else who told the world who Trump is. I can't help but wonder what Trump and Kump have on those mostly men that he can hold their loyalty when they know who he is. McConnell knew Trump was guilty in both impeachment trials but voted to acquit anyway. He did Trump and Kump a favor, but since a few laws passed that will actually help people, Trump is putting out the death threats and the racist insults. Good boy Donnie. You are living up to your role as former "Toddler in Chief." Now it's time for the adults to apply some positive discipline and keep Donnie off the airwaves, then he must be charged with the monstrous crimes he has committed. It's time!

In the current environment, if so few Rs are willing to do “the correct thing” and simply condemn hateful language, how many have enough gumption to fight for democratic governance and the rule of law?

Everyone knows the answer to that, because since 2016 we have seen what happens to those Rs or their senior staff who have spoken out in favor of the rule of law in our government. As the list of those who have left or been forced to leave grows, the list of those Rs who can or will do the “right thing” is almost nonexistent.

A robust system of lawful and orderly self-governance must be the top priority for America right now, and our votes must go to those who can help us attain that goal. There is plenty of opportunity for talented individuals to participate!

I get what you are saying - I’d vote for Liz or kin singer but - the GOP kills them. There are several Repubs I’d vote for - but when they fail to stand up for democracy - then they are against true American values.

I only ask when can we stop hearing about Donald Trump, and what is takeing them so long to put him away. Havent we seen or heard enough.

Amen! I wish with all my heart that I could go just ONE F'ING DAY without seeing or hearing something about that a-hole.

We'll stop hearing about him when his antics no longer contribute to their bottom line.

not to mention other criminality such as Ginni Thomas receiving $700,000 from the Heritage Foundation over several years and "Justice" Thomas not reporting any "spousal income" in all that time! One might assume the Heritage Foundation suggested dear Ginni mention a few preferences of theirs in Clarence's purview. In my opinion both Thomases should be in prison.

You can bet that - despite the GOPs overwhelming silence - Mitch McConnell's security detail is now on highest alert. His day to day life has changed - both at his office AND his home. He and his family are now even more vulnerable than ever before. Trump and his allies cannot walk this back.

Expand full comment

Sorry, I can't say McConnell is more than a fraction of an inch above the trumpster. His own actions and lack thereof are coming home to haunt him

Expand full comment

I try not to think of it as McConnell. Think of it as a threat against the United States Senate Republican Leader. That's where the true assault is - against the power of that office. For anyone to threaten that office and not to have any current Republican (except for Liz Cheney) condemn it is terrifying.

You're right in that connotation, as a public office, whether it is s threat to his political well-being, or his physical well being it is a threat against The United States of America. We are a Representative Democratic Republic, (at least for now) not an authoritarian, dictatorial fascist State.

Oh, poor Mitch. I'd play my teeny violin for him, but it broke during TFG's whinging rants.

Charles Manson spent a life in jail because he inspired others to be violent. Donald Trump should be in jail for doing the same.

Expand full comment

You're right, the only difference between these two psychopathic personalities is perceived power and money. Personally I don't care if the trumpster spends a day in jail. I know the law favors property rights, but in the trumpster's case I think a loss of all his earthly possessions would be a greater deterrent to some other deviant's behavior than a life spent in jail, while his family (about whom he couldn't care less) are free to enjoy his ill-gotten gains.

This disgusting man has to be stopped. He will get someone killed with his threats. The crazies that support this disgusting piece of trash will kill someone. He doesn't care if it's Democratic or Reptard. The Clown is a mob boss telling his lunatic followers to murder people against him. The disturbed Qanons will murder someone for the crazy old man. This crazy old man needs to be in prison NOW!

what do you mean WILL GET SOMEONE KILLED! He already has had people killed! Do you not remember January 6th? He is certifiably INSANE!

Expand full comment

I realize what he did 1/6. But he is now threatening members of Congress. If anyone else threatened them they'd be in prison just for threatening. Yes he is insane & I've been saying that for years. His dad had Alzheimers & that's hereditary.

I do not like or approve of Mitch McConnell one bit.

But trump's rhetoric and his cult's threatening are the equivalent of yelling "Fire" in a theater.

There should be severe consequences for anyone doing so -- including donald trump.

Mitch is finding out - lie down with the hounds, get up with fleas.

They ALL (mcconnell and all gop sycophants at every political level) and tfg have all been getting away with horrendous lies and illegalities..... BECAUSE THEY COULD. It is time to put a stop to it. If not NOW, there may be no other chance. Doesn't seem like we can wait till the mid-terms..

Teflon Don makes Tony Soprano look like an angel!

Expand full comment

Yes, Keith, the Teflon Don is pretty skilled at cheating, lying, ignoring our Constitution and the oath he swore. He also, I bet, has a cadre of sycophants whom he has sent to find out dirt on anyone Donnie is afraid of, the ones who actually know who and what he is. I suspect that explains Lindsay Graham's, Marco Rubio's, and Teddy Cruz's 180 degree turn related to Trump. I can't wait to find out what the secrets are. I suspect they will come out at some point unless Trump has already forgotten what those secrets were as he moves slowly into dementia. Well, someone knows and those three are scared and ditching their oaths to make sure the secrets don't come out.

Ruth, I think we already know the motivation of these despicable people, it is the overwhelming lust for power. it exceeds all else in their useless lives. Even insulting Ted Cruz' wife did not deter Ted's lust for power. And the media of every stripe, gives them the attention and sense of power they crave

I agree; I've often thought there must be an incredible amount of dirt - these sleazebags are so corrupted by power, wealth, prestige that they lose any moral compass they might have once had. I still think that's why Epstein was killed. I wonder who has the videos?

Teflon Don makes the original Teflon Don look like a piker. He just crimed all over a city/the state while this fat Don has crimed all over this country and then the whole world.

I wouldn’t weep if this was a hint for some maga nutcase to actually do the hit. But I would weep if the wanna be mobster come treasonous cult leader still walks around outside a prison yard a few months from now.

Expand full comment

Trump IS hinting. His language is a little more sophisticated than a schoolyard bully would use, but the intent is the same. Like the mobster/schoolyard bully he is, he can't quite bring himself to act on his own, but he wouldn't mind a bit if some poor, dumb schmuck who has completely bought into everything Trump has said were to maim or kill on his behalf. I weep that it has come to the point that there are those who wouldn't weep that someone might take the hint. It would further alienate us, one from another, and send our country toward more violence. May your words be as though never written or read!

not withstanding the fact that Mc Connell’s corruption and bullying provided the ground for a bigger bully to join the team. Mc Connell’s GOP didn’t differ that much from 45’s. Since their party looks more like a criminal cartel to which the RICO act could/should apply, anathema to all democratic norms, it’s fair to expect some internecine violence. Hopefully the judiciary will take care of bully #1, even though Moscow Mitch managed to corrupt that branch to a dangerous degree. Take one look at SCOTUS, not to mention all the lower federal benches filled by players whose main interest does not lie with preserving a Democracy, but to turn this country into a fascist theocracy. They managed to kneecap Obama for 6 years and had no problem aiding and abetting the crimeboss who was next.
