In the long-standing, Republican tradition of putting people that will do the most damage in charge, we should not be surprised.

Expand full comment

Republicans who go along with these nominations are insane. They are aiding and abetting the destruction of the country. At some point, Republicans will beg Democrats to vote for Trumps next impeachment.

Trump is filling the government with loons, traitors, slackers, fools, blunderers and corrupt plutocrats.

This is his plan: make every pick crazier than the previous pick so we forget the previous crazy pick.

Next up, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. 🤦

America is screwed!

That's why I will be wearing this "Happy to Be The Enemy Within!" shirt 👇

These are the perfect people, if your goal is to destroy the government. But health? He want to destroy the health of the people too? But, but, but, if we stop making medicines, there will not be any for him either. Oh, I forgot... he doesn't know how to think anything through.

Expand full comment

DJT, and his Flock of Deranged, will always be able to get the Medicines that they will need... Remember how DJT got COVID in 2020 after declaring that it would 'Magically' go away, was AirLifted out, received very restricted Experimental Medicines, and had a Team of over 10-Doctors.... Did DJT try injecting Bleach 1st?... DJT was back within a Week.. All at Tax-Payer Expense.... How many of Us would have those Benefits?

Their platform is about getting Americans away from needing medicines to counteract all the harmful chemicals and poisons in our food supply. You should actually listen to their podcasts and research their views. Nothing radical about their agenda, other than upending the corrupt regimes of Big Food and Big Pharma.

Expand full comment

There are aspects of RFK jr views on big ag and big pharma that I agree with. The problem is that his views on various subjects are so far outside of established consensus science that it calls into question his capacity for fair and unbiased judgement of evidence. I do not want to hand over policy on health matters to his judgement. I want a person at the helm who will listen to the experts.

Expand full comment

The same "experts" that brough us Covid, the "vax" and shut down our country? The same "experts" that called Hunter Biden's laptop "Russin misinformation". despite the FBI having verified a year prior? The whole point of shaking up the system is because the system is corrupt. So many conflicts of interest, "experts" being paid off to push false narratives to enrich their donors and investors. It's time to pull the curtain back and restore transparency to the system that has destroyed American's health and trust.

Expand full comment

You don’t think RFK Jr,’s views are dangerous? Go ask the 80+ dead, mostly under 4, in Semoia. He caused a massive, deadly measles outbreak with his lies. And guess what? He knows he’s lying. It’s all about feeding his narcissistic, oversized ego. PERIOD. He couldn’t care less about pubic health. You need only look at his real record as an environmental lawyer. He found it as a good way to enrich himself, not to help anyone but himself.

RFK had nothing to do with the measles outbreak in Samoa. Not sure where you're getting that from. 2 children were killed by a tainted vaccine which caused vaccine hesitancy among the Samoans.

I am always so unpleasantly surprised by the republicans on how they always find ways to circumvent the rule of law and do as much damage as possible to get more control and power.... remember President Obama attempt to nominate and get appointed a Supreme Court judge and Mitch McConnell holding for almost 2 (two) months the nomination just so they would end up nominate a Supreme Court judge instead!!!

And now ... nominating appointees WITHOUT due process????

WTF ... Why didn't Democrats though of something like this??? They are always playing by the rules only to get knocked down and swept over their feet by the "unorthodox methods" that republicans use ...

I think it might be the time that Dems snap out of this " hypnosis" that republicans put us all under !!

Really!

Have you actually listened to RFK JR and Cally and Casey Means? You should listen to their podcasts and research their views and issues. They talk about all the chemicals and poisons that have been added to our foods to make them more addictive. That's just a small piece. The platform is about getting Americans healthy again. How is that bad?

Heather, I share your concerns, however, becoming fearful will not solve our problems. We must start having more direct, in-person dialogue with folks we encounter and ask key questions: Why do you think a situation is so? What do you wish to see happen? How is this impacting your life? Dialogue can actually lead to friendship and consensus! We must never think we have a monoply on truth. Don't let today's events control your emotions. Take care--life is brief!

This is part of a war against government, that began with that demented horse's ass Ronald Reagan. If government screws up, then any government must be bad, right? It's a pattern.

Why are Republicans so opposed to government? Simple, government collects taxes. Why did Adam Smith (in case you don't remember, he was the inventor of capitalism) so in favor of taxes? Because taxes would prevent people like Elon Musk from becoming so powerful that they would buy the government and distort the market.

Welcome to the new world of Socialism for the Rich, for what else is not paying your taxes than government welfare for the Rich?

Allow me to assist: Reagan is “the government IS the problem” guy. He’s the guy who set the wheels in motion to create the plutocracy that we live in now and laid the groundwork for Trump’s plan to destroy the administrative state. Does that help a little?

Expand full comment

I agree, Reagan also deregulated corporations which started their exodus to China and tens of thousands of our factories closed. Reagan also led to the Bush dynasty which led to Iraq.... it goes on and on and here we are.

Expand full comment

And yet people have put Reagan on a pedestal it seems. Besides the Iran-Contra affair, he was responsible for keeping the hostages imprisoned until AFTER he was elected president to ensure Carter, who actually engineered their release, would not get credit so HE could win the election. He really wasn’t that nice, was he?

Expand full comment

On that hostages' issue, a Team (kinda Seal Six) was sent to Tehran to free the hostages. A bit risky, but at the times, the place was run by the students. The helicopters they used "crashed" in the desert "due to the sand." Imagine that mission being successful. We might have no Reagan. My take is that they self-sabotaged.

Expand full comment

Reagan is what happens when 1/3 of the population shifts their vote from Blue to Red, in racist protest after Civil Rights. When the dust settles in 2028, when we reach the terminus of all that Southern rage, we may want to rethink the Constitution.

Expand full comment

Penny, the flat tax is just bullshit. People need to pay a progressive tax. The more you make, the higher the PERCENTAGE tax you pay. Otherwise, everyone would pay what the poorest pay, i.e., 5-10%, and the country would collapse. But don't take my word for it, read Adam Smith and Thomas Piketty (you can skip Karl Marx).

Oh, and by the way, Ronnie was just awful.

Expand full comment

Definitely- there was a famous clip on the news where they turned the mic volume up and you could hear Nancy feeding him his lines one at a time. Reagan was in the pockets of the banks from the start (just ask Michael Moore). But his dementia became a massive issue and he tried to cover it up with his good ol’ boy schtick.

No, to be fair taxes should harm less those with fewer assets. If a person making $20/hour is taxed at 50%, it will harm their ability to support a family. That same 50% tax rate for a person making ten million per year looks unfair on the surface, but having $five million left over to cover family expenses is a lot better than having $20k left over.
