Actually, Hitler's trauma also began in childhood. Apparently, his mother was a servant in a Jewish family, and the rumor was that the man of the house impregnated her, thus making him half Jewish. He was also mistreated as a child, probably because of his mother's "crime". Most of these guys who end up being sadistic toward others, have probably been mistreated pretty severely in childhood.
