Lee, isn't it sad what we have come to accept and what sleezy corporations have been able to get away with. It seems to me there should be safeguards in place to protect the ignorant folks (ignorant because no one can know everything) from bad mistakes that impact a whole lot of people?

Sad indeed Ruth, and that is because the sleezy corporations have bought our politicians.

It started back in the 19th Century when in the case of Santa Clara County v Southern Pacific

a Court Reporter J.C. Bancroft Davis wrote, in a headnote that corporations are persons

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bancroft_Davis

Then in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_National_Bank_of_Boston_v._Bellotti, the Supreme Court held that corporations have first amendment rights of speech.

Finally in Citizens united the flood gates opened.

The result is we have the best government and Supreme Court that money can buy.

There is no solution that I can see, because the only way this can be changed is to change our courts, especially the Supreme court, Congress and the executive and every one of them sits, because they were bought by financial institutions and corporations.
