Thank you, Professor Reich, for having the patience to compile this list. We could not see the back of this evil bigot soon enough.

They want Trump to win because long term that's what helps them. They are not even trying to hide its one-sidedness at this point. They got Trump elected before and they are trying to do it again, with a lot of help from extremely wealthy owners. They'll help democracy burn for share price. Media has become no different than anyone else with too much money and influence.

They can stage fake WWF battles while actually helping each other profit!

It's up to us now to fight back with our numbers. VOTE!

I can't wait to celebrate Harris victory wearing this Totally Unhinged Radical Liberal shirt on November 5th in front of all Trumpers 👇 🤣

Concerning point 10: it is not only about the autonomy of women. Intervention about reproductive rights is an insult to a class of medical professionals. They help women in need to find the best solutions. Trump says they are executing babies.

Who are they? Who is executing? It is not only about women, it is about gruesome insults for an ethical and professional class doing their work. Caregivers, unite...

I can add one more - it was trump who shut down international flights with no warning about March 15, 2020. That action sent the economy and our society into a shock and tail spin.

It was Bernie Sanders that pushed for the gig workers to get unemployment. Please Dems - don't forget that ;)

I'm afraid so Mike. Took me too long to realize that not only could Trump shoot someone on 5th avenue and get away with it, but that his diehard supporters would love him for it in their misdirected resentments. No doubt I did not want to believe that of many people. I am not saying that is true of all his supporters, but true of too many.

Reminds me a bit of the Declaration of Independence, and its list of indictments against King George III. What more is needed to see that the very office of President was bound to regress to that of the King? And you thought Nixon was bad?

The US needs parliamentary democracy.

Expand full comment

We need a SCOTUS majority to remember that the Founders’ principal idea was that no person, not even the President, was above the law. They dumped 234 years of constitutional precedent in U.S. v. Trump.

Expand full comment

They need to be impeached!

Expand full comment

Remember, it was the King/President Trump who gave us this awful SCOTUS.

The fundamental problem with the Constitution is the retention of the King, renamed the President but King nonetheless. George Mason argued strongly against the office of President, precisely because the office, with precisely the same kingly powers as George III, bore too close a resemblance.

Madison's insistence on keeping it was one of the reasons Mason refused to sign.

Just a heads up on parliamentary democracy: Canada's PM was elected by 20.4% (those are party wide numbers) of the voting public and straight up lost the popular vote. Currently, about 72% of the voting public want Trudeau to step down so the Liberals can chose a new leader. Instead, we're stuck with the jerk telling us how good he is for us (he isn't) until an election gets called... You're not going to like parliamentary democracy very much either.

Expand full comment

Trudeau will be gone in a year, along with most of the Liberal Party. Parliamentary democracy may not be perfect, but it is surely better than a demented King.

Thanks, Professor Reich for these 101 Damnatians. It’s an interesting mix of con artistry, blatant disregard for the Office or the constitution, unrestrained hatred and division, and a heaping dose of ineptitude. Whenever possible, the top priority was always self interest and greed.

At least we now have a pretty good idea of what we need to protect ourselves from in the future.

Professor Reich: thank you for the timely reminder of the literal HELL that i and so many others experienced during Trump's four years in office. as i read your list, i recall the many nights where i was unable to sleep due to my almost-nightly anxiety attacks, i recall the terror i felt when trump declared his war on the environment and proclaimed that climate change was a hoax, and i recall being outraged about his selling national secrets and embarrassed when he did so many stupid things in front of world leaders. (buying greenland? i thought that was a joke at first, but ... no!)

Only the lucid, informative writing of dedicated Americans like Robert Reich, Heather Cox Richardson, Robert Hubbell, Joyce Vance, Simon Rosenberg, Timothy Snyder help keep so many of us sane and action-oriented to fight. I am so deeply grateful for them. When the history of this time gets written, THEY will be revealed to be the true Fourth Estate.

Yet with all of this he’s still allowed to run for POTUS, what am I missing???

DOJ has failed miserably. He should have been arrested on 1/6 or at least 1/20 1 minute after Joe Biden was inaugurated.

His insanity and cruelty has grown exponentially it seems, since his term in office. Last night at a sit down with Tucker Carlson, he said Liz Cheney is a war hawk and asked how she would like it if nine rifles were pointing at her face. (I assume he was referring to a firing squad.) Even I'm appalled he would paint such a horrific picture, knowing some of his crazy, violent followers may act on his words.

I wish for the safety of my fellow citizen, Liz Cheney, and her family. Please DOJ take action.

"Trump wasn’t charged for criminal obstruction because it’s the Justice Department’s policy not to indict a sitting president" How and when did the Justice Department , of all things, create a "policy" to ignore Justice? It was a human who came up with this ; Who was it? why was this allowed? I can see how frivolous suits could hamper a President. But having a policy to not even investigate or indict a president's clear wrongdoing has nothing to do with justice. "nobody is above the law" What an effing lie!

Thank you Prof. Reich for reminding us in unsettling detail of the hateful and insidious acts of this buffoon who we've come to despise for his insincerity, his lack of empathy, compassion, intelligence, and his insolent, anarchic, uncontrolled, and malignant narcissism and misogyny, all of which had already been documented in the New York Times 360-page bestseller from 2017: "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President."
