Oh, we still believe in diversity. We stick minorities in diverse congressional districts.

Laurie, what is Del?

Mike Hammer's avatar

Think “DEI”

JoEllen's avatar

I think it’s ‘Delete’.

Laurie Blair's avatar

IT's what you get if you try to type a capital i. And get DeL D E I . Can''t add a dot to distinguish the capital i from a lower case L. I guess the Chinese designed these things.

Adam Laurie's avatar

If we add 3 here, subtract 7, carry the 5, divide by party loyalty, that should equal 1950’s America

Virginia Tabor's avatar

I didn't want to click on "like," but I see what you are pointing out and it is happening to us. What you said is so true and makes me feel sick. I lived through the 1950's as a teenager, a new bride, and a new mom. Those times were brutal and so many brave people fought for what was called Civil Rights. Fought and won. Sadly, there was always an undercurrent of NOT. It is so bad now, that it makes those of us who went through those times in our history even more fearful, for we've seen where we were and now we see how we are going back to those times.

Judy Sherwood's avatar

Yeah, Virginia, I cannot believe we are still fighting this shit.

Virginia Tabor's avatar

It is so terrible and in looking back, I can see it was always happening in some sectors. Now, though, it is from the top of government on down. Before, our government was on the side of the law. Now it is not. That is the scariest part of all that is happening now, in these times. Today.

Its not your fault that nobody explained this, but we are the same humans as a decade, a century and a millennia ago. We have baked in foibles that we only overcome when we have the self-awareness and humility to admit to them and self correct - or we can just enjoy and celebrate them (they feed our vanity so well). Every generation has a chance to be taught this - or not. How do we rate our recent teaching?

Mmerose's avatar

Patronizing jerk.

David Janson's avatar

Very sorry if this made you feel uncomfortable Mmerose. Do you have a counterpoint to what I said?

Mmerose's avatar

Previous poster could do without "It's not your fault (uninformed as you are) nobody explained this. (As I, the superior intellect will now do...) Other than that, I'll take it easy on ya.

This is like a steamroller. Flatten everything and everyone not on "their" team. Disenfranchise the informed, the educated, the women, Anyone who might speak up or vote "the wrong way."

We can bet that if minorities were expected to support and strengthen the magats, there would be lots of new minority-majority voting districts.

This push is cynical, patriarchal, and oligarchic. Dystopian.

Note: Clarence Thomas is a much-pampered pet, tool, and fool of wealthy white megalomaniacs.

Hah, Linda, love what you said about old Clarence!
