Prof. Reich, your generosity in making your college course available to the public is greatly appreciated! Then to create a personally hand drawn award is truly the icing on the cake. Thank you for caring so much.

Dear Robert Reich, you have been a gift to me and to the friends I shared your letters with. I'm Dutch, old political scientist and public servant, but you learned me a lot.

You inspire me to attempts to revive social democracy, by writing and publishing, but what you did is marvelous, in every sense of the word: clarity in text writing, content, choce of subjects, amount of production, etcetera. I wish I still could imitate you....

Thank you Professor Reich for giving us the privilege of attending this class. The class was provocative, challenging, and a pleasure I looked forward to for 14 weeks. Not a single class was dull, or boring, all were inspirational.

Thank you, and much applause.

Thanks, Prof. Reich. It was very generous of you to make this series of lectures public, and, dare I say, in keeping with your moral philosophy. I just wish there was some way to make all the far-right members of the House take your course!

Dear Mr. Reich, Thank you for taking the time to educate us on so many things. I consider myself knowledgeable, though I learned a few new things from your discussions. I always look forward to your view on issues and more. Thanks again! 😎

Thank you for sharing your ideas and resources. The course represents one of, if not the best, summary of the causes of economic inequality. I would only add one course of action that is based on the early success of labor to gain recognition and a greater share of the national wealth. And here we get back to the Republican Debt Strike and its legitimization as a negotiation tactic.

The only way to challenge the power of the plutocrats is by declaring the power of debtors with a tactic equivalent to a labor walk out—a debt out. The Achilles heel of Finance resides in the fact that most of its wealth rests in the pockets of everyone else. While rents on property and dividend on stocks comprise a good portion of its wealth, debt, is, by far, the greatest source of its income. U.S. debtors are a remarkably disciplined group. In the U.S., since 1985, the average delinquency rate—missing a single debt payment-- is 3.3 percent. Actual defaults numbered only 0.98 percent of bank loans. Imagine the impact then if only 10-20 percent of debtors agreed on a specific month to withhold their debt payments for 30 days? A debt out. It would be enough to register as a significant protest and signify the potential collective power of debtors. Furthermore, it would raise the prospect of a significant number of debtors demanding a meaningful role for debtors in formulating a nation’s, or even the world’s economic policies. Since nothing else promises to confront the tyranny of the rate of return, it’s worth a try.

Robert:

Space is wanting to say who you are and how you have made an important, positive difference for our nation by teaching and through public service. I think what a man should aspire to be through his life on this planet and you are that man.

Thank You. 🥂💕☘️

Thank you so much, Professor Reich, for this last gift of the complete link to the classes. I’ve been very ill and unable to concentrate on longer pieces but restacked them just in case I became strong enough to listen to the series. My own library if you understand. Also, the excellent series by Dr. Timothy Snyder on the history of Ukraine. I’d like to understand both these areas if given the time left to me to accomplish. Great gifts from you both, indeed. I loved your story about being a “mutant”. Suspect each of us is in some way. But the bullying is shameful , don’t you think? I hope our Democracy survives these current assaults but have no faith that the “pundits” can actually predict in these circumstances of cultural unrest and loss of values basic to healthy society. I maintain hope in Joe Biden’s faith and determination to carry us through the storms raging all around and within our nation. His wealth of knowledge and expertise in foreign relations especially is so very adept. If only he is not compromised by McCarthy and his MAGA team of fools, large on wealth and power hungry but short on global empathy for those with nothing. Love your certificate of completion and your cartoons; they are magnificent sketches! Enjoy some extra time for yourself. You will not retire; I completely agree that such absence of purpose shortens and renders our lives less meaningful. So how will you spend this coming weekend as a free man, well more than before, perhaps. Very best of luck and happiness to you. Your student in all things monetary and otherwise, Judy. 😉

I did not expect a Certification acknowledging my completion of your excellent course. At 96 I didn't expect to be taking a course, but the main reason I did was that your were my professor. I have been a fan since you were Labor Secretary for Beeplicated the subject. The only class I didn't enjoy or understand was the one you didn't teach.

My cousin, Leah Carroll, just retired, she ran the Haas Program at the University.

I would ask you to reject ageism, as you do heightism, for Joe Biden. I do not believe there was anyone as qualified, as experienced, to face the current Congress and manage to pass important legislation and perform as brilliantly in Foreign Affairs. I too wish he and Jill could look forward to a less stressful future.
