Robert Reich hit the nail on the head in this essay. Note that tRump’s MAGA slogan accidentally articulates what needs to happen. It’s as if tRump recognized this and tapped into the anger that this perversion of capitalism created, while casting the blame for it on immigrants of color swarming over the border, and 38% of the population love the recognition that the system is rotten AND tRump’s explanation about why it’s turned rotten.

“I love the uneducated.”

Again, Why aren't you supporting Marianne Williamson in the primaries for President? You and her are on the same page. I am baffled? She needs support from people like you!

we somehow have to curb the power, wealth and control of the rich and the big corporations.

A tax regime based on wealth and in case of corporations based on turnover rather than profits(as these can be massaged down to minimise tax liabilities)

The enhanced tax income can be used to reduce workers tax burden. TAX should not be considered a penalty but more of contribution for betterment of society.

Further the Tax should be paid where the turnover occurs ,so all nations would benefit!

Thank you for your continuing insight.

I’d like point out that there is a significant difference between the challenges America faced in 1820’s-30’s, and what America faced in 1920’s-30’s, both examples give hope that America has been here before, and therefore will overcome again.

Unfortunately, America is more in the position of Europe in the 1920’s-30’s with its economy moving overseas and facing a fall from economic leadership. Most countries have struggled, and failed to deal with falling from world leadership well…

Would you address what we can do, facing this situation?

During the Reagan era, I wondered what had happened. I watched as politicians tried desperately to “educate” the public about how lowering taxes would only add to the problems we were having. Economic problems took a back seat to “Mini wars that were fought mostly on television (six American students rescued? From a tiny insignificant government in the Caribbean?) Really? Guns to Nicaragua? Delaying the release of Iranian captives until Reagan could claim credit? Really? During the eighties through my retirement in 2006 I could get nowhere financially. I was only worth what someone else was willing to pay, no matter what. My forty years of employment was finally saved via a 19th century gambit. I “married up”! Pew!!! I was nominally better than the janitor on night duty mopping the floor. Adding to the jeer of “only paid what you are worth” was the fact that I wasn’t perfect in the new way of judging people: “If you’re rich, God loves you -- if you’re poor, You’ve deserved it.” From “Do unto others” to “Job’s Comforters” as government policy. I began seeing cracks in the liar’s dikes with the Occupy” movement. What did I see? People making an effort to read and educate themselves. People saying: “Wait a minute!” As someone born 6 months before the first baby boomer, I wondered what had happened to all those idealistic folks that had managed to break down segregation, to call government to account for bad policy. Since that time, I have seen glimpses of awakening: The World Trade Meeting in Seattle, rising concern about climate change, Bernie Sanders finally sounding like a Democrat used to, the grinding losses of the Covid epidemic, really analytical reporting outside of media controlled by advertising, and more important -- people beginning to seriously educate themselves in the archaic skills of civics and history that resulted in Biden’s election. Now, I’m sorry to say, we are about to experience round two of the civil boxing match that began 40 or so years ago. Thank you to all teachers who have entered the breach to teach, encourage, and exhort those willing to listen. I hope everyone understands that this isn’t over -- that it will take much more effort to protect what we remember as the great American experiment of the post-war years.

LOL - yes, I love comments. It's much better than yelling at the computer!!! I do play a bit of devil's advocate on here. In case some people haven't noticed ;)

I loved my statistics class and professor. I think it's a sorry shame we were not taught it in high school. I think it's a darn shame we were not taught experimental design (then you can shuffle the crappy studies from the good ones) there too. It's so much fun. I loved that professor too.

I won the essay in grade school for the "Free enterprise" contest. I knew I wanted my own business.

The older I get - and the more I practice - the more I can see that BF Skinner's research is so valid. And, so many people get the methods incorrectly. Again, I hope everyone will read this awesome and funny as heck book by Karen Pryor. We can even change for an even better democracy, atone for the past injustice, and do better.

Just say yes to the day.

I am having technical issues - sorry if it keeps reposting.

I think we are in the same position the world was in during the Gilded Age, and we all know how that ended. Hopefully, we won't have to go into a 3rd WW to change. The current iniquities are worldwide. We are being dragged into wars and conflicts to divert the attention aways from the suffering. There is one party that always has the conservative view. It has always been like that in the history of humans. So, without killings millions of people can we all try to come together in unison to fight against the forces that separate us?

Yes, we all know the situation and how we got here. What many folks don’t know is the solution to the problem, and how they can help.

The solution is to overrule all SCOTUS decisions that created corporate personhood, and their doctrine that money is constitutionally protected free speech.

That’s it. All we have to do is pass HJR54, the We the People Amendment. It will restore our Constitution and our POWER back to us, the People, and WE will solve all of our problems!

But our Constitution will not amend itself. Help out at movetoamend.org and/or moneyoutvotersin.org

And have a nice day.
