What I find very encouraging is the depth of support for Fetterman, a charismatic working-class no-nonsense guy who doesn't seem to be afraid of anything or anyone. He's the type of guy whom working people can get behind, and be excited voting for. We need a lot more like him in November's election, not timid snowflakes who hide in the background, never get out in the press, television, social media, or in person to their constituents, inspire no one, and who can only be seen right before an election every few years.

I agree, Porter. Fetterman seems to have all the qualities that average working people are looking for. He's authentic, affable, hard to label but clearly on the side of working families. I have high hopes for him.

Authentic, that's the word. Real, genuine, trustworthy, authentic. You put your finger on it. If only every Democratic candidate radiated authenticity, we'd win everywhere Democrats ran for office.

Come November, democracy will be on the Pennsylvania ballot -- in the very cradle of the nation's democracy. I'm a Pennsylvania boy, born in Scranton. I personally abhor the takeover of so much of that state by Trump's liars and haters, including Mastriano.

I am optimistic.

Democratic voters are far more enthused than Republicans. We outnumber them. We can out organize them, with or without the DNC. With a couple of senators we can pass the “Freedom to Vote Act,” good health care, good schools, and good wages, pay off student loans, and of course restore Roe v. Wade. We potentially can sweep.

The Democratic Party offered $300 per child until Republicans ended the Child Tax Credit. A Democratic majority is within reach, virtually eliminating child poverty and stimulating the economy. Every kid, parent and grand parent will benefit.

I'm optimistic that the Republican part has nothing to offer. And even a racist needs the necessities of life -- food, shelter, clothing and medical care,

I sure hope this comes to pass! I try very hard to be optimistic but cringe when I hear about some insurrectionist GOP running for any kind of election! And they just might treat Fetterman the same way. Please. Now is a time to unite.

FEC regs prohibit contributions, donations, expenditures(including independent expenditures) and disbursements solicited, directed, received or made directly or indirectly by or from foreign nationals in connection with any federal, state or local election. DNC does not take any foreign money. The Federal Election Campaign Act (the Act) and Commission regulations specifically prohibit foreign nationals from participating in the decisions of any person involving election-related activity.

However foreigners control many US corporations. Corporations may make donations to Political Action Committees (PACs); PACs generally have strict limits on their ability to advocate on behalf of specific parties or candidates, or even to coordinate their activities with political campaigns. PACs are subject to disclosure requirements at the federal and state levels.

https://www.opensecrets.org/elections-overview/top-organizations

If you want to get frosted about something, millions of dollars in donations continue to flow to what watchdog groups deride as the “Sedition Caucus,” Trump and Republicans who support the BIG LIE.

“There are some members who, by their actions, will have forfeited the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Period. Full stop,” Neil Bradley, the executive vice president and chief policy officer for the chamber, said at the time.

Less than two months later, the nation’s biggest lobbying group reversed course. “We do not believe it is appropriate to judge members of Congress solely based on their votes on the electoral certification,” Ashlee Rich Stephenson, the chamber’s senior political strategist, wrote in a memo.

In the year since the riot at the Capitol, many corporate giants and trade groups have moved from making stern statements about the sanctity of democracy to reopening the financial spigot for lawmakers who undermined the election. Millions of dollars in donations continue to flow to what watchdog groups deride as the “Sedition Caucus,” as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a nonprofit watchdog group, reports support for most of the 147 lawmakers who voted to overturn the election results.

"In the last year, 717 companies and industry groups gave more than $18 million to 143 of those lawmakers. Businesses that pledged to stop or pause their donations to those lawmakers have since given nearly $2.4 million directly to their campaigns or leadership political action committees, according to CREW."

"Many of the corporations that have donated are household names, including Boeing, Pfizer, General Motors, Ford Motor, AT&T and UPS. Trade groups such as the Chamber of Commerce have also continued to be big donors, with such associations, or their political actions committees, giving $7.67 million to political groups associated with lawmakers who voted to overturn the election or to PACs that support them."

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/us/politics/congress-corporate-donations-2020-election-overturn.html

I bet same companies have been making excessive profits from the pandemic, causing or exacerbating inflation.

Daniel Solomon ; you started this series of thoughts with the statement ; "Please, this is a rime to unite" ; then went on about the chamber of commerce, which I do not think is a friend to Democracy nor to workers. My view is that we want to unify with those who are part of the solution, not part of the problem of corruption in politics like taking tainted money from those who would use folks as puppets and ultimately betray and cheat us out of our goals : to serve the Common Good. And protect Democracy.. Why waste time and energy, because we need another 'win' in a battleground state at all costs, even if they are a sell out!?. Nobody just wants "to get frosted'. Quite so. However, note well that Governors can appoint Secretaries of State. Per Mother Jones magazine yesterday: "The Pennsylvania governor appoints the secretary of state, the official responsible for certifying presidential election results in the state. As Greg Sargent argued in the Washington Post, Mastriano could appoint a secretary of state who, amid baseless allegations of election fraud, certifies a losing GOP candidate as the victor of Pennsylvania. This certification would then be sent to Mastriano, who could forward it on to what might be a Republican-leaning Congress helmed by Rep. Kevin McCarthy. "

3. Perhaps most importantly, they are so infected with cheating genes that the first thing they assume is that we will cheat too.

This kind of information is really important to know. I certainly wasn't able to find out this kind of information prior to the primaries in PA, but I wish I had been able to. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do deep research prior to the primaries, and was only able to Google the candidates, and see whatever information the local Democratic committee had posted and who they endorsed. From the information that I had available from what I thought were reputable news publications, such as The Philadelphia Inquirer, I even voted for Conor Lamb. I had no idea about his voting so frequently against the Democrats in the House, and that he is a good friend of Joe Manchin's. Had I known this, I too, would have voted for John Fetterman. I am horrified, though not surprised, that an insurrection attendee and supporter of the lie that Trump won the election in 2020 might become the governor in 2022. I can only hope that many Democrats show up to vote in the general election, as well as Independents who haven't become Trumpers.

But it is still important to be able to make the most informed choice in the primaries to try to make sure that the best Democrats are on the ticket in the general. Hopefully, I'll have enough time and correct information to make the best decisions in the primaries in the next election.

Then change the issue every other day or every week. Sometimes I don't think they think about the number of people who will support from out of state and who need to know more. I get come-on's all the time from candidates whose names I don't know. Most are from out of state but don't even show the state they're in. I'm not donating to anyone like that.
