In this country everyone has the right to make a fool out of themselves--which Trump has done very well in the time we've gotten to know him. The problem lies in the ignorance of the people who support him. That level of stupidity is what scares me, as it should you.

Mike Hammer's avatar

He is stupid, Donald and on top of this he has dementia coupled with frontal lobe disease. Many of his supporters are clever enough to grift the hell out of our government while they all turn a blind eye to others crimes.

Donald Hodgins's avatar

Mike--Upon inspection I really feel some of those worms that ate RFK Jr.'s brain have taken up residence in Trump's head, and for a while now it's been meal time for the little guys.

I have this little science fiction fantasy: a time traveler snatches up Stephen “the ghoul” Miller and transports him back to Nazi Germany where he is arrested and sent to Auschwitz. Or, alternatively, transported back to the middle of the Russian pogroms suffered by Jewish people, as were his own ancestors. Karma! I don’t want him to die—just to suffer the cruelty and experience the hatred that he has inflicted on black or brown skinned people just because he hates them.

He will negotiate a favorable work situation and report on his fellow inmates, shine the commandant's shoes and sweep the refractory first...

I fear you are right.

I would like to see him serve IMMEDIATELY on the U.S. Supercarrier, USS Gerald Ford, along with the other men and women who have been on deployment for more than 10 months. Let him clean some latrines where there is inadequate water, soap, and supplies. And be in close quarters with some real heroes to see how he fares.

I think the best, potential though unlikely, scenario would be publicly naming the fuckers who give horrible decisions and orders, like Bob said. Name them. And maybe invite the nun from GOT to ring her bell and chant “shame.”

Victor's avatar

We can help by naming a few, but it is important to make clear that they constitute a team. They are the real "enemy within."

Anne Fletcher-Jones's avatar

That’s a good one!

Peggy Freeman's avatar

I believe I would enjoy watching that science fiction fantasy, Anne! He definitely needs to experience the absolute hate and cruelty those people suffered! If he could endure something like that and not come out of it changed, then there is no hope or help for him!

Mike--My grandfather wrote a poem back in the 1930's entitled "Lesser Clay," Trump's origin comes from that.

Donald, I would love to read that poem!

He is a textbook psychopath, Mike. It explains everything. The corporate media is too cowardly to point this out.

And what the cowardly corporate media puts out must be accepted as the final word. I consider Japan my second home. Those entrusted with presenting information to the public have to be judicious and truthful to the best of their abilities.

No Laura Ingraham, Jesse Waters or Glenn Beck types. Such would not be able to go out and remain unscathed. Rush Limbaugh would not have been around very long. Worse still for the person or persons giving them their platforms.

It's a 2,500 year old society with ad hoc, informal enforcers. Some laws are unwritten and expected to be understood. Or else.

You think that Trump is stupid. So why millions support him? Are they all stupid? Is that a constructive argument?

Dale Greer -- Dagnar's avatar

I have a hypothesis: tRump is 'stupidly diabolical' meaning that he does not take into account (even if? he could?) any or all potential consequenses to what he says or his actions, whether or not they are good or bad for himself and his ~ cohorts ~. I've come to think that, off the top of his toupe'd head, whatever he says about anything, that his 'minions' take what he says and 'make it real' with writing "laws" or taking actions (especially when those efforts benefit each and/or any one or everyone else of his 'minions'.). just sayin' ~~ any thoughts ?

They showed their true colours and selfishly voted for Trump. They did not vote for the greater good. Buyer remorse does NOT exonerate them from their willingness to vote for a felon, knowing it would ruin so many lives. They did vote for lawlessness and inhumanity, and got it in spades. You get what you pay for. You get what you deserve.

Sadly, the US media has normalized Trump. They work for him. They refuse to challenge him on his lies. It is perhaps the media’s saddest legacy. Someday, they are all going to be like: yeah, Trump was insane. They're going to pretend they didn't create him and act as his personal stenographers the whole time. This is why I will always follow independent journalism!

This shirt that says, "Don't blame me, I voted for her," still stands for either election 👇

Harvey Kravetz's avatar

Trump's unfitness was never a secret. Everyone who knew him—including most Americans—understood he was intellectually and psychologically unfit for the presidency.

He got elected because enough Americans chose hate over democracy.

Racism. Xenophobia. Anti-minority resentment. Contempt for government. Trump tapped into all of it.

They didn't vote for him despite his unfitness. They voted for him because of it. His cruelty was the point. His incompetence was acceptable. His authoritarianism was the feature, not a bug.

Now we're living with the consequences.

Americans are getting what they deserve—but the tragedy is, everyone suffers. Not just those who voted for him. Immigrants suffer. Minorities suffer. The poor suffer. Democracy suffers.

The cruelest part of democracy is that the majority's choices bind everyone. We all pay the price for their hate. It is hard to accept that there were that many Americans who would vote for a Trump.

J. Nol's avatar

Don't overlook the misogyny and the homophobia.

He was elected by a plurality, not a majority. And Hillary won the popular vote. I take solace in these facts. So a plurality of American are getting what they deserve, and will get when the hammer drops as planned, after the mid-terms. The majority of Americans are getting screwed by that plurality.

Gabriel Litvin's avatar

Correct. MAGA Trumpers are the end product of a decades long period of stupid angry people groomed gradually by politicians and media on the right to accept unprecedented criminal corruption and depravity. This began in earnest under Reagan, the smiley fascist, and people like Limbaugh and Mike Savage. Much like Hitler, Geobbels and the rest, these people fanned the rage and indentifiedd "enemies of the people" to blame.

There is no cure for this kind of stupidity, but there is a cure for the outcome. Vote them out. Vote Democrat.

i've been thinking a lot about the sources of that 'stupidity' ... when children drink water with lead in it, when children play sports that give them CTE, when girls are urged not to let boys know how smart they are, when stupid entertainment and politics ride on algorithms designed to slip into a kid's emotions and around their cognition ...

stress, especially of the kind the epstein class handed out, makes people stupid. also, full of rage.

we've worked pretty hard to create the 'stupidity' the king craves. there are a lot of stupid people, for sure; an 'average' IQ isn't much defense against this effort. but many of the stupid people aren't really stupid ... or didn't start out that way.

some people have stupid rage (the somali's are the reason you can't afford health care), but some rage is the result of an accurate look at how the economy and the law is designed to screw them over.

we should do a deep dive on the bernie voters who went for trump ... they didn't suddenly become stupid.

Eric--I feel there has been a concerted effort over time to gradually reduce the quality of public education. Someone wants us to be ignorant.

“We the People” don’t need a useless news media to inform us who the criminals are. The restoration to democracy the rule of law and equal justice requires a new generation progressive Democrats to be elected as president in 2028 and requires the President and the DOJ to arrest prosecute convict and imprison all criminal felon violators of the federal law against insurrection who are Trump members of his administration Republicans in Congress six justices on the Supreme Court and billionaire oligarchs including Musk. According to the federal law (18 U.S. Code § 2383), a felony crime is committed by “Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office”. That's clear language that needs to be read by everyone.

Enforcing the criminal law would enable “We the People” to have their elected Democrats create a super majority in Congress and SCOTUS by filling the empty seats. BTW all registered Republicans are violators of the federal law against insurrection. With a new Congress and SCOTUS, legislation could be passed to raise taxes on billionaires (income tax with the top rate 90% including capital gains and a 2% annual wealth tax) and corporations (taxed at 50% with loopholes closed) to fund solutions to affordability including Medicare for All and to end Citizens United and other corrupt SCOTUS decisions.

Remember in 2024 SCOTUS refused to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment that permanently bars individuals from holding state or federal office if they previously swore and oath to the U.S. Constitution and later engaged in insurrection or rebellion. Therefore, Trump, the insurrectionist who incited the insurrection on January 6, 2021 was allowed to be on the ballot and get elected.

The core problem in America is a corrupt legal and political system created by Republicans and billionaire oligarchs that has refused to enforce equal justice under the law and steal wealth from 95% of people transferring the wealth to billionaires and corporations. “We the People” don’t need a useless news media to tell us who are the criminals.

Victor--My door-bell rang--

I was making a chicken sandwich and I just put two slices of bread in the toaster when the door-bell rang. My main door was wide open, just the storm door separated me from my guest. She was a smallish woman in her late 50's I would guess, dressed from top to bottom in Red-White-and Blue, she resembled a flag that was left out in a hurricane. She had in her possession a handful of political flyers and she was at my door in support of Mike Rogers. The election was on the 4th, this is the 6th, I don't agree with the Republican agenda but their desire to reach out and contact voters is commendable. I was asked if I was going to vote for Mike seeing as how I was a registered Republican. I informed her, how I vote and who I'm registered with are two separate things. She looked me right in the eye and said; "you're going to vote for the Muslim?" It has begun!!! She had trouble even remembering Mr. El-Sayed's name. Abdul had better get his game together because Mr. Rogers isn't going to be a pushover. Perhaps Abdul should have a heart to heart with Slotkin, she defeated Mike previously. The Republicans aren't sitting on their hands on this one and we need to match their effort if we want to win. My toast burned.

POLITICS FOR GROWNUPS

I don't live in a political fantasy. I live in a political reality where dirty PAC-funded establishment Democrats do the bidding of their BIG DONORS.

Guess what? BIG DONORS fund both parties and that's precisely why dirty PAC-funded Democrats have not and will not prosecute Trump and his gang of career criminals yesterday or tomorrow.

BIG DONORS don't need Democrats and Republicans criminally prosecuting each other screwing up their BIG DONOR gig.

BIG DONORS are more interested in pushing and protecting their BIG DONOR agenda than "seeking justice" for We The People.

That's why Joe Biden and Merrick Garland gave Trump a FREE PASS for two effin years after Trump and his gang executed their Jan. 6 crimes.

Had Biden and Garland indicted Trump and his gang of Jan. 6 career criminals IMMEDIATELY following Jan. 6, Trump would still be sitting in federal prison right now.

Instead, Democrats gave and still give Biden and Garland a free pass for failing their constitutional duty to protect Americans from domestic enemies Trump and his gang.

BY THESE SAME SORRY MEANS dirty PAC-funded Democrats will NOT be prosecuting Trump and his gang of career criminals in 2029.

I absolutely guarantee you that Trump and his gang will never be held to account, will never be indicted, prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to prison by dirty PAC-funded Democrats, period.

There's a 100% chance that if a dirty PAC-funded Democrat becomes President on January 20, 2029, that President will NOT pursue prosecuting Trump and his gang and will say the same thing Joe Biden said when Biden took office and was asked, "Will you hold Trump to account for his Jan. 6 crimes?"

Joe Biden said, "I don't want a big DOJ Trump investigation consuming my presidency."

I squarely blame Biden and Garland for allowing Trump to escape justice and run for President again.

There's no way that Biden and Garland shouldn't have begun criminally investigating Trump immediately following Trump's Jan. 6 crimes, instead of DOING NOTHING FOR TWO YEARS, ensuring Trump's return to the White House.

Biden, like the 2029 President, will falsely claim that they cannot prosecute Trump and his gang because that would be "weaponizing the DOJ."

What a giant croc.

Biden owed a constitutional duty to protect Americans from domestic terrorists such as Trump, but preferred not to do anything about Trump.

Remember when Biden ordered his staff and the entire Democratic Party to STOP TALKING ABOUT TRUMP'S INDICTMENTS?

For a whole year prior to the election Biden ordered his staff and Democrats to refrain from talking about Trump's indictments.

I will never forgive Biden and sure as heck will never forget it.

The same exact thing will happen again in 2029, IF we elect a dirty PAC-funded establishment Democrat for President.

I can hear them now, echoing the words of Joe Biden: "I don't want a big DOJ Trump investigation consuming my presidency" and making the false claim that prosecuting Trump and his gang would be "weaponizing the DOJ."

chris lemon's avatar

You may be right. But the next Dem president, with the dictatorial powers granted by the Supreme Court, may go on a rampage and clean house.

Ron Harold's avatar

Nope. Joe Biden and Merrick Garland didn't need dictatorial powers to prosecute Trump and his gang for their Jan. 6 crimes.

Nope. No dirty PAC-funded Democrat will appoint a U.S. Attorney General who will simply enforce existing federal law.

This is why I am talking about this subject.

I want Trump and his gang BEHIND BARS in 2029.

I served a Dem senator and House rep for years. I know how these things work and I will say it again: No dirty PAC-funded Democrat will appoint a U.S. Attorney General who will simply enforce existing federal law and put Trump and his gang behind bars for the dozens and dozens of felonies Trump and his gang committed during his SECOND TERM, much less his first term.

My point is, we must stop voting for dirty PAC-funded establishment Democrats who take dirty PAC money from AIPAC, BIG PHARMA, BIG OIL&GAS, BIG TECH BROS. for a list of reasons; not the least of which is dirty PAC-funded establishment Democrats will never put Trump and his gang behind bars.

That's why Democrat voters need to vote for progressive Democrats who do NOT take dirty PAC money, such as Abdul el-Sayed and other progressive Democrats.

Our only chance at putting Trump and his gang behind bars is to vote for a progressive Democrat for President who does not take dirty PAC money.

Patricia Dempsey's avatar

Sadly, I agree 100% about the Biden - Garland issue. I think they were so determined to avoid the appearance of weaponization, that they waited far too long to assign Jack Smith to the investigation. Had these things begun immediately after Garland's confirmation, I'm guessing we'd be in a lot different place these days. Weaponization of the government is what we're seeing now. And had they acted early, and allowed investigations to carry through, it would not be seen as weaponization, but instead the prosecution of rightful criminals!

I'm going to start with the SCOTUS justices who made it all possible and continue to sanction it all. Ever since '16, I've maintained that the SCOTUS was the real loss of that election. Secondary actors in it all include that brain-dead scum "serving" as a vegetating mannequin of a man in the Senate hospital bed-seat, as he's propped up like an invisible scare-crow, and that goofy-assed Democratic Party leadership hallucinating that the US voters had become enlightened enough to elect a woman, a clearly rather unpopular woman, over a well-known half-assed male carnival barker with a delusional message and a meme, who they consistently failed to have enough intestinal fortitude to call a goddam liar to his face on national TV, and seemingly still haven't learned a single goddam thing from their abject failures on the national stage. After all, a'cussin' a goddam gutter snipe with money isn't genteel! Fuck 'em - along with the media whores and influencers they rode in on! Who is accountable? How the bloody 'ell do you hold a massive cluster-fuck that includes at least 1/3 of the voting population, along with the credulous, complacent, and somnambulant voters who willingly chose to support bright shiny rock 'n roll icons - as it were - accountable in a Monty Python-esque court system, particularly when those at the top of that court system have the final say on whether they themselves can be held accountable? Hell! They can't even be made to comply with the same goddam code of ethics they hold the rest of the fuckin' US court system to!

Maybe that’s the problem. They’re hiding. However, I must say, with all the corruption and crimes that Trump has committed he just keeps getting away with it. We all know the corruption that’s going on, but the media doesn’t talk about it (except MS NOW). So many of us want Congress to impeach Trump. Even if we didn’t get the votes needed for it, we would know who the loyalists are and concentrate on their removal. Trump is being protected by the Supreme Court and other Oligarchs because he caters to them. I don’t know why Congress does nothing!! I have gone to my representative in Florida, Lois Frankel, and told her, to her face, to impeach Trump. Her reply: “I can’t” then she walked away from me. I found out that Frankel has received over $670,000.00 from AIPAC (Israel’s lobbyist). I have gone to her office. Felicia Goldstein, one of her chief staff people, told me, very adamantly, they are all Pro-Israel!! They don’t recognize what’s happening in Gaza like I do. There seems to be too much corruption everywhere. We need for people to WAKE UP!!! Become more aware to what’s going on!!! For me, it’s my podcast buddies on YouTube!!! The media really needs to get the word out. One more thing and it’s a biggie!!! What do we do about Fox News and their affiliates?

Victor's avatar

Trump and Fox News fan fear and resentment, and those most prone to these emotions fall victim. Hate is the psychotic child of fear and resentment, and hate, like fear, demands immediate release. This is why People who fall victim to thee emotion are unable to think long term, and that makes it easy to manipulate them..

Sheila's avatar

How the law allows Fox and Trump to get away with all their lies and propaganda is unconscionable. I can only speak for myself. I find it very disturbing. I get so angry at Congress. They are supposed to serve us!! They have the power to impeach Trump, but they don’t. I can’t understand this!! They obviously are putting all their eggs in one basket, the midterms!! However, I can do one thing. Vote to remove Lois Frankel, in Florida. She refused to impeach Trump and has taken tons of money from AIPAC. The older Jewish community is all pro-Israel and that’s why they support her. I’m sure they will all vote her in again. I will not!!! I will be voting for Victoria Doyle, who I believe recognizes what Netanyahu is doing to Gaza. I’m a proud Jew, but I recognize the genocide. I will not support Frankel.

The idea is, to hold a person responsible by way of negative consequences. When I Googled him, I discovered another less known enabler in that story, guy named Matthew Menchel, a District attorney who had meetings, dinners and a ski trip with Epstein. (Miami Herald reporting, but they are super pay-locked, sorry) Wonder where Menchel is now? I guess my point is, what difference does it make if an individual is identified, if a) they have no shame and b) the rewards totally overwhelm any dirty looks they get from somebody someday? To me this seems a rather disingenuous column, for we all know the names of those who created and wrote the Project 2025 edict, and Trump was/is their perfect foil. And we know the names of all the not-supreme court six goons and criminals who made Trump's every heinous action possible! And then, of course, there is Musk, who bought and rigged the main bastard Trump’s way into office! No pun intended, but it's really not rocket science figuring out who is/(are) to blame! And they should ALL be held to account, arrested, indicted, prosecuted, and imprisoned for the rest of their days, and then some!

The likes of Jack Smith (who climbed out of a hospital bed, against doctors' serious orders, to pursue Trump in the stolen documents case, etc.) will have a field day when all is said and done, with, God willing, good and honest judges to back them!

All of these government sabotages are necessary if your goal is to eliminate democracy and replace it with a monarchy - a ruler, not a governor. We have seen this same pattern of action by people (nearly always men) who want absolute power. They are psychos - megalomaniacs. In Trump's case infected with dementia that reduces impulse control, so you are more likely to say (insult national leaders) and do stupid things (like invading Iran) you will later have to undo. At 79, nearly everybody experiences mild dementia symptoms now and then to a limited extent (Bob and myself included). Trump just does it all day.

Last week, I toured megalomaniac King Ludwig II of Bavaria's palace in Linderhof, Germany. It looked like Trump's gilded Oval Office, floor to ceiling in every room, but on steroids. Ludwig drained his nation's treasury mainly by building castles like Neuschwanstein and gilding everything around himself. Fed up, his oligarchs Article 25'd (legally dethroned) him, and then drowned him the next day to ensure he could not return to power. There is a lesson to be learned from that history. Too bad Trump's only exposure to German literature was Mein Kampf.

Excellent! Name them, shame them, and convict them... the sooner, the better. I still don't understand, however, why lawyers such as Blanche haven't been brought before their governing body and disbarred. Can anyone enlighten me?

It is disheartening to see a ridiculous stretch of water given as much importance as the massacre of thousands of Palestinians—and thousands of people slaughtered in Iran, Ukraine, Sudan, and elsewhere—or the colossal waste of money on killing machines, when a small fraction of that cost could help improve the lives of millions who would then no longer feel the urge to leave their countries...

If God created man in His own image, He should have invented the mirror first.

René, The only ones who profit are the killing machine makers and those who are invested in them one way or another. They put profits before people and hide behind flimsy house-of-cards justifications while they count their money.

And now you have Trump and Netanyahu, criminals who need to perpetuate the abomination of war in order to avoid facing justice. Their criminality, hypocrisy, and the trail of wreckage and waste left in their wake are colossal...

If there is a god, retribution will be divine.

Dowager Don needs to be tied together with so many other creeps like Neti, and remaining tied together forever, withering on their self made filthy VINE!!

I agree with all of this but am left wondering: how do Americans actually insist that we get this information? Writing letters to editors surely won't do it. Do we ask our Representatives or Senators to do something about this? I may simply be being a bit slow about this but some guidance or advice would really be a help.

Hi Greg, These two quotes are excellent and just as appropriate as they were when they were first said. At present, however, there is the blogosphere which is an area of free expression that did not exist in earlier times. Yet it is not guaranteed invulnerability against a federal government going rogue. I think that the next three months will be critical for whether American democracy has a real chance of survival or not.

Certainly true when it comes to Fox News.

Adam, "Vote the scoundrels out" is how Americans are supposed to be able to insist on what they want. The vast majority of Americans don't want to live under a regime whose puppet masters are a handful of way-too-wealthy money hoarders, pedophiles, white supremacists, and religious fanatics. So it's no wonder that the regime is doing everything it can to pull the rug out from under Americans' ability to vote.

Ian Ogard's avatar

The regime Justice Department along with the rest of the departments and agencies and media have been engaged in a not-so-covert struggle. The dictator from Day One and his minions have been laboring to reorient them so that their mission is to subvert and pervert the truth and the rule of law for the benefit of America's way-too-wealthy.

Knowing who is doing what throughout the regime and holding them accountable is only the first step in reversing the corruption. Without flushing big money out of government and changing the plumbing so that its flow is ended we'll continue to be up to our necks in the same old sewage.

Yes Bob, of course the criminal actions should be recorded. But why is this endless list of criminal acts not prosecuted? There is a lot of integrity and fighting spirit left in the legal system, is it not?

So, use it, weaponise the system.

A majority of the voters want this theft and treason stopped. The world is amused by the show of incompetence in the Iran war. A deal of war and peace is different from selling a building.

And ms. Pirro; it is indeed a grave matter. Who will persecute this false allegations, that might have ruined an innocent person?

Everyone seems to think that the day of retribution will come. In my view that is postponement like often in politics. It will make the transition to normalcy very difficult. The juridical system should act now and should do so decisive. Three hundred white wash accounts, with links to the Russian maffia!!! Get them and do something...

On the day that all the Epstein Files are laid out on the table for everyone to see, all of this will be of secondary importance.

Of course, those responsible must be named. Many will try to hide behind the institutions or directly blame trump. And quite a few will seek to save themselves by turning informers. Anything else would be unimaginable given the scum that is currently still running this country.

I'm sure that there are many people who own the qualities of a Jack Smith, und who keep detailed records of everything, trump and his minions say or do.

Nobody in the cult cares. Literally nobody.

Here's the Truth Social Post;

"They both looked 18, even the 14 year old. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Everybody else cares. As the Epstein Gang is an international criminal organisation, Interpol cares. The world cares.
