I'm just tired of watching the #SundownerInChief struggling to keep his eyes open in a press conference when he's not talking, knowing that the fate of humanity does often lie in his pock-marked hands.
But it's OK, at least his son-in-law is there to make sure that the Saudis and Qataris get everything they need.
Thank you Laurie, I want nothing more than a treason indictment following a midterms slaughter. I’m thinking that’s what it will take for Republican law makers to get an ounce of courage to turn on master.
Steve Newman, if our Courts are functioning as they should, Maybe it could happen, with a Democrat win across the Congress. I'm so used to seeing off ramps for the "right", it seems like an impossible dream .
Stand by about one hundred and ninety days. Seems like a long time today but hopefully Trump will continue burying himself at the same or better rate. It's all we got today.
I am FAR from being the eternal optimist in most arena’s but this… You gotta believe many have smartened up, maybe even a small part of the 27% or so that would walk off the edge of the earth with our crackhead president. When I say smartened up, that includes not voting, but would have. I’ll throw a little bit of respect their way for that in spite of their ignorance.
You believe the Earth is flat, and they can walk off its edge? By now, un.less they are deaf. Dumb and blind there is plenty of evidence of his criminality. They have been brainwashed or threatened.
My walk off the edge of the earth analogy was specific to a very special crowd. The kind of crowd that here's something and locks onto it like a wild dog with. a bone. The dog does not care where the bone came from nor does the beast care about truth, lies or what consequences their actions have on the world. So to answer your question I do not believe the earth is flat, I think it's an ellipsoid.
Trump has screwed the entire world, an amazing accomplishment, however, I think the polling ultimately is the most important element of all these subjects. When CNN polls, which are an aggregate of polls from various sources, indicates that 62% of voters disapprove of Trump's performance that's enough to sink him permanently, ultimately. That seems pretty darn secure to me, and the idea that when Democrats get in power again they will impeach and remove him next year just bolsters that confidence
Reports indicate that Iran has indeed refused to continue negotiating with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, explicitly citing a complete breakdown in trust. So why send them back when they aren't wanted?? Trump just wanted to send a message, "deal with who I send or I'll bomb you into extinction..."
Trump's limited mentality is having a problem coming to grips with a society that uses
hatred as an offensive weapon in the same manner he does. I got flack for suggesting the blockade that Trump imposed on Iran.
There are many ways to choke a chicken, a blockade is simply one of them. Trump and Hegseth have vastly underestimated
the offensive capabilities of the Iranian military. The Middle East is handing Trump an unexpected helping of Iranian arrogance, because they haven't yet begun to fight. The lies Trump and Hegseth
have spread concerning the extent of destruction we've rendered upon that country were used for our benefit not theirs. It isn't
easy trying to justify an expenditure of over a billion dollars a day to our people here at home who suffer from our own economic
disaster caused by Trump's misconception of how we view his affordability farce. "Top Gun"--Trump is writing checks this country can't cash!
Because of his vacuous choices in selecting a cabinet, he now has no one to advise him who understands anything.
Maybe the government shouldn’t be built like it is - with a president that can’t pass an IQ test or a mental aquity test - and with that same person assigning cabinet members - I guess the forefathers thought we would be smarter and realize a real LOSER when we see one and put in better preventative steps by now.
Definitely no person with prior criminal convictions should qualify and no person over 70 years old as the job is too strenuous.
I agree with all of the above. The president should be sacked if he starts a war on his own. No impeachment, just immediate removal from office. A bad president can do too much damage under the present system.
We need a whole raft of Constitutional Amendments. We must rethink and rewrite Article II to keep a President from usurping the powers of the other branches. Do we even need a president? Maybe an independently-elected executive council? Define and delineate the Justice System in Article III - not just turning it over to Congress. Get DOJ and The Inspectors General out of the Executive Branch and make them stand-alone Branches of Government in their own right. And what of Article I? How do we fix a Congress which has been bought and paid for by oligarchs? We have to banish money from our politics. And we need some kind of recall option and that goes for The Executive Branch as well. We need the so-far mythical Blue Tsunami in November! Vote like your lives depend on it.
Great observations. Amendments are hard, though, so maybe start with what can be done absent Amendments. I absolute agree with you on getting DOJ out of executive branch. Norms are no longer sufficient, so of this needs to be codified. Surely congress can do a lot of this, as soon as maga-shits are expelled.
Trump’s idiocy is not about his age. He has never been in possession of intellectual acuity.
Look at Bernie Sanders, look at Robert Reich … older men with a firm grip on reality and in no way fading as they age.
Americans made very poor choices and you got what you voted for. It’s not as if you didn’t get a trial run! All the signs were clearly there in the first presidency.
There was complacency. The failure to note that America was not the centre of the modern world. And that the Constitution was open to misuse.
The thing that should give us all pause, is that the forces who elevated this "big con" grifter to the presidency remain, even though at the moment, they appear to be turning against him. They are not our friends. They are not our allies. With the material help of the SCOTUS, this president has forcibly imposed the economic and societal measures the Republicans have advocated for at least 50 years. (I don't think Democrats have raised >even remotely< enough hell about that platform, let alone having it crammed down our collective throat!) And the religious wing nuts, although somewhat diminished since his intimations of papacy and godhood, maintain their ultimate aim of supplanting Constitutional norms with theocracy.
This won't be over once that grifting incompetent is removed from office, and don't fool yourself for a Plank length that it will be. Like a Tucker Carlson apology, the only thing remorseful MAGgots are sorry about is being caught up in the consequence they intended to visit on others. Forgive them and forget their attitude at your peril. They will try to knife you again, given the first opportunity - believing that the same action will have a different outcome.
And remember, Thiel backs Vance. And although they >seem< to be going off that grifting president, that religious right wing-nuttery will vote for that unserious, ill-instructed, fake Catholic, who presumes to instruct the Pope on how to pope, in a heartbeat.
And here's an issue endemic in those "god fearing" red states that just doesn't seem to garner the same kind of press coverage it does in "blue cities," for reasons that trace directly back to the kind of Republican policies that are responsible for creating the socioeconomic environment in the first place: https://youtu.be/oU4q-PyB-dg?si=TKyaGKebrBzH7H7E
(BTW: Make sure to listen to the >whole< clip. You'll be as surprised as I was. Ol' Blackboot is a clever fellow!)

Speaking of not your friends and not your allies. I'd like to make perfectly clear that my recent comments and example of Iranian propaganda is in no way advice, or even remotely a suggestion. that you should believe or take >any< of it seriously. It's just a good sample of Iranian propaganda, to study and learn from. That's all.
On the other hand, the "not our friends and not our allies," Israel, through their blood-thirst in decapitating the Iranian regime, has only succeeded in elevating the most hard line - and arguably, at very least as blood-thirsty - of hard-liners ever to the Iranian leadership. Not our friends and not our allies, either; and boy are they pissed! This is a lose/lose conflict in the best of all possible circumstances, where to win is to lose and to lose is to win - if we're verrrry lucky.
Please do have your Coffee Klatch in the coffee house again. It a great venue for your message…an every persons setting. Maybe once a month or 6 weeks?
I am here as a witness to tell everyone that it is Liberation Day here in Italy. Center cities are celebrating with brass band parades, flags, uniformed service members, all in step celebrating the defeat of Nazism and Fascism. Mayors and public figures all across the country are presenting impassioned speeches denouncing war, denouncing racism, denouncing authoritarianism, denouncing fascism, denouncing Nazism. It's time America that we too parade down the streets of every city with brass bands and flags to celebrate victory over tyrants, over war, over violence, over racism, over fascism, over Nazism. IT'S TIME! ENOUGH!
Professor Reich and Heather Lofthouse: not sure how you managed it, but the sound was GREAT! i heard every word you both said, even when my parrots were shrieking like lunatics.
i also enjoy your coffee klatch in the coffee house ... saul's? it's comforting and relaxing to watch you all eat and drink coffee and chat. it makes me jealous ... i want to visit a coffee house whilst you are coffee klatching! but the nearest coffee house here is an hour away (by bus -- i've no car). so i'll just pretend i'm there with you all.
Thanks for giving up or regularly using alternative transportation systems, like public transportation, or car pooling, or even car sharing. Better for the environment. And I include how you use the internet to communicate. I, too, like the coffee Kluth. But I do own a car, regulating use to 1 day a week, or at least 2 people in the car.
well, i'll soon be biking around -- although i think the weather gawds read my mind so now it's snowing here, all day! SCREAM, I HATE SNOW! especially when i've already planted 3 raised veg beds ... crossing fingers they're all okay.
Because of Trump's Iran war caused huge increase in fertilizer cost, there will be food shortages and high food prices at harvest time. It aligns with the mid-term election.

I so enjoy watching the Coffee Klatch when both of you are out and about! That coffee shop reminds me of the one I go to with my kids when we go out for breakfast! What infuriates me is these "former" sycophants that are now speaking out saying the very things we have been saying since that orange stain glided down the escalator back in 2016! For me, it is too little - too late! While I am glad they have finally 'seen the light'; however, I would prefer they kept their enlightening to themselves! It is odd to me because my children are dealing with their father who suffers from dementia. He has begun wandering and suffers from 'sundowning'. He has become anxious packing his suitcase telling his wife that it is time to 'go home' when he is already home. Right now he is in rehab in order to get his medications under control and will need 24/7 care when he returns home. It is so very obvious to me that the orange smear is suffering these same symptoms! I have learned that sundowning occurs in the middle or nearer the end of dementia than the beginning. Orange man has suffered from dementia for quite some time now. While he obviously suffers from his disease, every single sycophant around him is working feverishly to make all of the money they can before he completely melts down! The corruption is blatantly obvious and right in our faces! All I can say right now is that we absolutely MUST win the House and the Senate in the midterms! We all must do everything we can to get our candidates elected!

It will only take a few Republican cowards to get the job done when Democracy returns to Democratic law makers post midterms .
With threats of firing squads for any dissent, I think there may be defectors from the MAGA cult.

Not with any Iran negotiations.

Enjoy ☕️

Did you mean extinction, but the rest is right on.
I'm enjoying your Coffee Katsch BUT I can't help thinking that your breakfast is getting cold!
I thought the exact same thing. While I was not letting my own breakfast go cold - watching to not miss a word !
...and you both need to have a refill on your coffees!
It is lovely. Hope the background noise isn't too bad.
Yes those bagels look enticing.
Better make that 300!
Hold the coffee clatch in a coffee shop only if it is quiet.
The Klatch is great wherever it is held, but I have to say that to see you guys discussing world affairs while having breakfast is a real treat.

Will you all vote Meloni out as well?
That sounds great!
One of the hopeful signs is that Meloni is no longer a Trump-fluffer.
I hope that next time you, as well as we, will elect someone who is not an authoritarian or fascist or bigot.

Thank you, and I support Robert’s words about resisting ‘normalisation’ of Trumpism 👏👏👏
Anthony, in Scotland.
BS! Tucker goes which ever way the wind blows. So does Vance. Cannot trust either one !
Because of Trump's Iran war caused huge increase in fertilizer cost, there will be food shortages and high food prices at harvest time. It aligns with the mid-term election.
Trump doesn’t know what a “‘food shortage” is - he’s literally starving millions by cutting off aid to USAID
An American, first language being English, who has to be told what "groceries" are, what a "corner store" is. A narcissistic, cruel, spoiled, ignorant, semi-illiterate thug of an individual who roams the earth totally unconcerned with the suffering of others. And apparently they're literally starving our troops in the Middle East. Those photos of what they're offered at dinner? Just unbelievable.
And hopefully the price of gas will be sky high. Sorry to all who would be seriously impacted by this -- if you think of it as a campaign contribution you might feel better.

Kerry sounds so reasonable. Sense of humor, too.
The REAL traitors always do. Remember Frodo’s initial reaction to Strider.

The camera work in this week's Klatch was really good -- it had a movie feel to it. Someone knows what they're doing! Reminded me of "My Dinner with Andre" (1981).
I'm all in on more coffee klatches at Saul's. The sound is just fine, and in fact the ambient sounds of an active deli add to the total.
I have 2 suggestions. First, with that seating arrangement Bob looks a bit uncomfortable twisting to talk to Heather, so maybe something could be done to better accommodate the conversation. Second, through the whole video I kept thinking "Eat, it's getting cold." So by all means, eat the food on the table!
Why not do the Klatsch as an “after breakfast speaker”? Start off with “we’ve had a very nice breakfast, just on coffee now”.
Perfect. I had the same thought. It's uncomfortable watching them ignore their food to talk with us. :-)
The sound is great. You both seem more relaxed and fun. I found myself chuckling at you in the beginning. I vote for more Saul’s. Let’s keep hammering on the corruption. NO one likes to be cheated. It makes us MAD.
Thank you two for these wonderful Saturday coffee klatches - especially in a coffee shop!!♥️♥️
