I’m drawing a blank

Let’s not tell the professor we started without him.

ISOequanimity's avatar

Love it, Mike! No matter what the cartoon is, I can only think of one caption: “What 5 letter word that starts with T is missing from the Kennedy Center? TAINT.” Now that we have one clean spot in DC, there’s an entire country to scrub.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Taint no difference one way or the other as long as we get the job done.

You’re on a roll today! I’m still chuckling over drawing a blank!

Professors have a life too. let's give them a break. We need more of them because teaching is a labor of love for their students.

Mike - If the blank page was the cartoon for the evening my caption would be:

“This is the complete draft of the T and Iran MOU agreement awaiting signatures”

But I like your quick wit and humor ;)

I hope his ink doesn't run! It's stormy in Washington today.

Sounds promising

Uh-oh. I think he will know!!!

As long as some unknown Republican hasn't put you in a cage..

Donald Hodgins's avatar

Iran can't be trusted and neither can Trump--

Knowing the lack of trust between these two adversaries I can see no positive solution currently available. What will be gained if Iran hands over its 400 Kg of partially refined Uranium 235? Nothing!! They will just make more. The refining machinery is what has to be removed or destroyed, and the Iranian government will never comply with our wishes.. If Iran succeeds in building a nuclear weapon they will have to test the thing, that is something they won't be able to hide. Seismographs all over the world will light up like Christmas trees. Unless they purchase one from a friend. How much do they hate us?

David Christensen's avatar

Wish we could all be friends. They might still want a nuke, but they wouldn’t need it for security.

Like all countries, the average Joe just wants to get thru the day and likely does not inherently have animosity toward anyone. Problem lies at the top.

David--From the top down.

Who broke the counter this time.

Local NextDoor. I posted that if they threw some lions in, I might watch. In any case it would boost my on line toga business.

NextDoor hid it. I’m thinking censor was prissy republican.

Caption The total IQ points of Trump and his cabinet ….. blank

I cannot begin to tell you how much your persistent hope despite brutal honesty help me to keep remembering the last lines of the Desiderata: “For all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.” Thanks,

I need to remember this quote. Thank you. And my thanks always to the professor for sharing his wisdom born of experience. (I guarantee--the cartoon will be worth waiting for. ; )

Perhaps an empty page for an empty headed administration is an appropriate way to call attention to our demented executive.

Dear Robert, please feel free to take off the rest of the day.

Goofygirl001's avatar

Yes Dear Robert, Take the day off because it appears from the comments we are keeping each other entertained. I know I am enjoying them immensely. Thanks all!! 😊

Virginia Tabor's avatar

you've earned a day off Robert!!!

Dear professor Reich, as you approach the second half of middle age, taking a Sunday or two off in the summer needs no apology.

Nancy Bainter's avatar

almost summer. . . next Sunday!😎

Burt Ray Simpson's avatar

Getting your snacks and beverages to get you through the cage match. Enjoy!

Calvin Hanrahan's avatar

Dr Reich, you do realize that every single one of us can identify with that. Take your time; we’re going nowhere.

Judy Robinson's avatar

Best wishes to you, Prof. Robert Reich! You deserve time for yourself, including time for doing errands and meeting needs. All the while, we appreciate your dedicated work in all you are doing to help us through this situation, and we will be happy when it is convenient for you to send something more.

sjcasey71's avatar

My caption will be: “He promised insider trading info, if I threw this match”

Remember the rule from college: If the Professor doesn't make it within 20 minutes of the start of class, we're out of here.

Oh well, I'm not in college anymore so I'll wait. What am I gonna do anyway, watch the Bread and Circuses spectacle tonight?

Neosha Mackey's avatar

At University of Oklahoma we waited the entire time if our professor was a Professor!

Dennis W.'s avatar

No problem... enjoy your break! Take care and stay safe.

Stuart Soffer's avatar

Thank you for your attention to the this matter “s shithead Trump””

Curtis S Jacobs's avatar

your still a regular guy, well sort of, so i get it; fyi there expect a chance of thunderstorms in the area of the "big event" tonight, mother nature to the rescue maybe a spoiler, summer in DC can be pretty hot and muggy but thank goodness the reflecting blue algea pool is truly giving us a mirror for the politics in DC. hyper mug a fraud alicous, dirty with a cover, you get it.

Anon's avatar

Curtis - I have had my fingers crossed for days now since I read the possible forecast for storms and hoping for bugs, too (bigger than anything anyone has ever seen before). It would be nice for Mother Nature to remind him of what exactly she can do.

Susan Soroka's avatar

The biggest, and the most beautiful bugs ever!

Anon's avatar

Susan - Lol!

Laurie Blair's avatar

Anon some big June bugs...

Anon's avatar

Laurie - I’d even be petty enough to settle for those little midges/gnats that fly quicker than your hands can move to swat them. They are some agile little buggers!

Why has there been no counter celebration scheduled to the 4th of July weekend ?

Would Bruce Springsteen lead a celebration at some major venue ??

eg Chicago stadium … one of the ballparks., etc etc

Anon's avatar

Tom - At one point during one of Springsteen’s concerts he alluded to doing just that - having a counter celebration. I also thought that some other artists were interested in either joining him or doing something similar elsewhere. But, you are right, I haven’t read anything about it since. I do know that there are protests scheduled but I don’t know specifics.
