It’s ok. This ice is crushed!

I'll bring the hammer!

Judy Robinson's avatar

We’ll hammer in the morning; we’ll hammer in the evening, “all over this world. ….”, based on Pete Seeger’s and Lee Hayes’. song, performed by The Weavers, and eventually performed anew by Peter, Paul, and Mary’ in the 1970s, “If I Had a Hammer”. We want “love between the brothers and the sisters”, and we want justice and freedom. “ICE OUT!” is absolutely right!

Carol Schachner's avatar

“If I had a hammer” was written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hayes and first performed by The Weavers. PP&M covered the song in the 70’s.

Carol, thank you! I am so glad to know those facts. I just edited my comment to give them credit, and I still absolutely love the song!

Martha O'Bryan's avatar

A great oldie that still applies!

I approve this message.

The only thing more powerful than ICE is love!

Okay, Donald J. Hodgeman -- you got my vote. I'm sure you will do a better job than Pres. Cheato.

Donald Hodgins's avatar

Okay--I'll hit defrost.

Donald Hodgins's avatar

That was so thawfull of him.

Judy Robinson's avatar

If only it were as simple as defrosting to make everything clean and a safe environment!

The glaciers are melting and Trump cut out the climate change regulations…

Judy---In 2029 an asteroid named 99942 Apophis will pay us a visit. If it comes close enough perhaps it will heat things up a bit.

I’m getting existentialitis.

Judy Robinson's avatar

If only the thaw coming this week will solve the ICE problems, we will not need to wait and wonder, will we?

Judy Robinson's avatar

Yes, we must always remember to choose only frost free! Never buy anything that requires defrosting.

Donald Hodgins's avatar

We can call the event; "Melty's party time."

That’s because he is a GOOD bunny!

Mmerose's avatar

Yes he is! I have been loving the "name" because there is truth in paradox, and I have no idea where the idea came from, but what is more paradoxical than getting your head around a bad bunny. Stereotype is bunny is the most harmless of creatures, yet devastating in large numbers. Majority minority existential terror of America's cultural crisis. Bunnies are forever with us, canny survivors in hiding or sometimes fodder to enrich above-ground generations. Surely a bunny is only bad to one who stumbled on a burrow because not watching his step.

Rose (WNY via OH/OR/MA/FL/CO)'s avatar

Oh, Mmerose, you have nailed this! That paradox is precisely the irony: you cannot eliminate what’s autochthonous—what’s homegrown, native and NATURAL to a region. The Taino people were in Puerto Rico (Boriken) long BEFORE the Spaniards stole their land and in 1898 ceded it to the U.S. after we defeated Spain in the Spanish-American War. As residents of an American territory, Puerto Ricans ARE U.S. citizens; since 1898, significant numbers have distinguishably served in our military and in all our modern wars. At so many levels, there are NO bad bunnies—as Bad Bunny himself explains when describing what inspired his stage name:

Obliged Mr. Orbison:

Once again, I am aware that I have exceeded the limits of an actual cartoon caption. But I felt these ideas required more thoughts and feelings, And the song Crying by Roy Orbison expressed a national, collective grief.

I was all right for a while, I could smile for a while But I saw the news today, The children in the halls, behind the wire walls Separated from the ones who kept them safe And I thought that we were better, but I was wrong Now the medicine is gone, and the hunger’s growing strong.

Crying... for the families ICE has torn apart Crying... for the coldness in a leader’s heart It’s hard to understand that the decency we planned Is slipping through our hands And I’m crying.crying, crying, crying... Over the world we’re leaving behind.

The sky is turning grey, as we turn our heads away From the solar and the wind, back to the coal and oil again While the planet starts to burn, we refuse to ever learn The Paris lines are crossed, and the future’s being lost And the billionaires are laughing while the newsrooms go dark Handing millions to the palace, while the workers lose their spark.

But I see Renee, and I see Alex too I see Minneapolis, and the red, white, and blue Of the soldiers who were brave, and the social workers' grace The kindness that is hidden in a neighbor's tired face But until we find our way... I’ll be crying... Crying... Crying... Crying...Over joy lost

Thanks to the MAGA Republican Congress the ICE Chest is $40 billion !!

I too have cried and cried for the country that is changing and world that is languishing for lack of leadership and courage. The exception: President Zelensky, he has never lost the vision for peace and co-existence. We WILL SURVIVE THESE DARK DAYS for as surely as the earth turns, NOTHING stays the same. Dictators come and go, the seasons continue on, and the Spring WILL COME. Impermanence is all that is permanent. Change is inevitable when people refuse to bow to the status quo. But Americans are NOT Russians, and like Hungarians, and Iranians WE THE PEOPLE have arisen and are facing Goliath head-on. It is working as the Liar-in-Chief is acquiescing more and more , of the hundreds of lawsuits about 90% or so are working to limit trump's usurped power, republicans, those frozen in time sheep in Congress, some are quietly working to fight damage control as they see their party about to implode and splinter. I see the faces of Renee and Alex and all the deportees in MILLIONS OF AMERICANS WHO ARE NOT WILLING TO ROLL OVER AND PLAY DEAD. Keep an open heart; keep your faith that the power of love will and is bringing forth millions of David's willing to slay the many Goliaths.

I think it’s time to make Puerto Rico the 51st State!

Laurie Blair's avatar

Without ice and the ugly regime. and only if they want to.

Douglas Vitarius's avatar

If Puerto Rico was a State, residents would get to vote, which they can’t now. That would be over 3 million votes.

Laurie Blair's avatar

Yes, they currently are a "possession" of the U.S. and cannot vote. I guess there have been efforts there to become a state, and opposition to statehood. My guess is that the media is owned by those who do not want to give them the franchise. maybe similar to those who can't vote in the District of Columbia, right in our Country's Capitol. They want to keep them under their thumb. No sovereign power.
