Sadly, I doubt most Americans will know who is really to blame. They are so readily deceived by Trump’s lies and manipulation, that when he points the finger of blame at another party, they’ll believe him. I don't think it’s just ignorance; it’s survival. People are exhausted, struggling to make ends meet, and they don’t have the time or headspace to question what they’re being told. Adding to their expenses is only going to heighten that. Thank God that Bernie, Tim Walz, AOC, and Elizabeth Warren at least are trying to enlighten them. We need more Dem leaders on the ground, doing the same.

Professor Reich: some days, i am not sure who is stupider: agent orange and his pet technobros, or the MAGA enthusiasts who scream like rabid hounds every time they are promised something by their fearless leader. it's utterly depressing.

incidentally, i've been reading Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States, and am finding myself not only enlightened, but astounded by how greedy america truly is. after reading this book, it's EASY to predict that ameriKKKa would become a fascist plutocracy where everyone who does not fit "the ideal" -- a white christofascist money-worshipping male -- would be demeaned, humiliated, tortured and even enslaved. if i'd read this book as a teenager, i'd have fled the USA almost immediately because this book is a stern warning, and i would be so horror-struck by the country's documented history of greed and viciousness that i couldn't live there any longer.

meanwhile, i sink ever further into despair.
