The corrupt legal system in American has intentionally created inhumanity and enabled an ongoing insurrection in America to create a lawless fascist autocracy that violates the Constitution and federal criminal law. The insurrection began on January 6, 2021, and continued in 2025 as planned in PROJECT 2025 by the Heritage Foundation. From 2021 to 2024, Biden, Garland and Jack Smith were blocked from enforcing the law and putting Trump the insurrectionist in jail. The corrupt SCOTUS created by Republicans illegally refused to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to bar Trump from being on the ballot and holding office which was illegal support of the insurrection.
Doctrine is not law. Qualified immunity as doctrine should never exist and protect the unjustified ICE murder in Minneapolis or anywhere in America. But doctrine is being widely used as an escape from violations of law. Doctrines make a mockery of the rule of law. ICE acted outside their official duty in Minneapolis which was finding and detaining illegal immigrants not replacing domestic police and unjustified murder of innocent citizens.
Murder is a crime with no time limit in the statute of limitations for murder in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 10th Amendment authorizes states to enforce the criminal law like murder committed in their state. Therefore, the ICE agent can legally be prosecuted based on evidence of probable cause in the criminal action outside the scope of ICE official duty which was not detaining illegal immigrants and without any threat if bodily harm to the ICE agent.
As mentioned, Trump, his administration and ICE are conducting an insurrection that violates federal law.
The federal criminal law in the United States is created by Congress and then described in Title 18 Part 1 of the U.S. Code which has multiple Chapters.
Specifically, the crime of insurrection is defined in 18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection. The Code clearly states who is guilty of the felony crime with this language:
“Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
What is the solution? The law must be enforced on insurrectionists including Trump, members of his administration, Republicans in Congress, and six justices on the Supreme Court. When Democrats get elected to the presidency and take control of Congress in 2028, the insurrectionists must be arrested, convicted and imprisoned. And the corrupt legal system must be revised which includes removing corrupt doctrines including qualified immunity.
Agree as to all of the above but add that an associated purpose is to make Trump and his henchmen richer. What Trump calls tariffs is extortion and his agreement to reduce these are mostly bribes to himself.

I have seen pictures of ICE agents in the New York Times, etc. They wear military clothing and helmets and masks; they carry very large guns. They look like they are operating in a war zone. In fact, the war zone is the blue city where they are stationed. These war zones are creations of this administration. Nobody is safe in a war zone.

I was born just after the end of WWII. It coloured our days and nights. Documentaries, radio interviews, magazine articles bombarded us with insight and information constantly. My dad was in Europe, and then Germany at the end of the war. He instilled the lead-up and evolution of the rise and fall of the Third Reich into his children. He wanted us to be vigilant, and work to prevent this from happening again. And here we are. Friends in Minneapolis have reported many incidents of ICE brutality. ICE targets anyone of color, ram vehicles, follow people home, bang in doors, and drag people out of their homes all without warrants, while wearing bullet proof vests with POLICE on the back. Pepper spray is used on observers, and observers are threatened with guns. It sounds super scary. I applaud the brave people in Minnesota who make videos of these thugs so the rest of us know about what's happening.

Xplisset - You are correct in saying that this isn’t about anyone’s safety. This is about smashing first and then maybe gluing it back together later. Is anyone asking why ICE is being sent to the states for purposes that ICE usually doesn’t do? In Minnesota the government claims that they are investigating fraud but sent ICE. Border Patrol is a long way away from patrolling/protecting the border. Congress gave DHS way too much money (who are getting ready to fraudulently and absolutely abuse and waste it) but instead of being transparent (as they claim they are doing) and buying body cameras they are doing the opposite of documenting potential crimes to which would hold up in court. There’s a reason why they are losing their cases. All the while this administration is back to separating families from their loved ones in even more extreme ways. If we do have elections that don’t favor the party currently in the majority what’s to say that they will actually honor the vote and leave? Power and money are dangerous motivators but it is an even more dangerous time when the person knows they are going to lose it.

Xplisset, that is what could happen if we permit it. We need to be sure we don't. The reason ICE thugs wear masks and come armed is because they are poorly-trained or possibly disturbed cowards, but we now know there are ways to figure out who they are, maybe not all of them, but some of them. We need Republicans in Congress to be reminded over and over that they are not the employees of Donald Trump, Steve Miller, or anyone else in the white house toddler pool. They are working for and were elected by the American people of their states or districts. I was born just after the end of WWII. It coloured our days and nights. Documentaries, radio interviews, magazine articles bombarded us with insight and information constantly. My dad was in Europe, and then Germany at the end of the war. He instilled the lead-up and evolution of the rise and fall of the Third Reich into his children. He wanted us to be vigilant, and work to prevent this from happening again. And here we are. Foolishly, perhaps, I feel like I and my generation let down my father and all of the veterans from that odious war. We could see this US fascist state unfolding before our eyes. The seeds were planted long before Trump, though. He exacerbated the situation. Arrogance and greed.

Friends in Minneapolis have reported many incidents of ICE brutality. ICE targets anyone of color, ram vehicles, follow people home, bang in doors, and drag people out of their homes all without warrants, while wearing bullet proof vests with POLICE on the back. Pepper spray is used on observers, and observers are threatened with guns. It sounds super scary. I applaud the brave people in Minnesota who make videos of these thugs so the rest of us know about what's happening.

Xplisset - You are correct in saying that this isn’t about anyone’s safety. This is about smashing first and then maybe gluing it back together later. Is anyone asking why ICE is being sent to the states for purposes that ICE usually doesn’t do? In Minnesota the government claims that they are investigating fraud but sent ICE. Border Patrol is a long way away from patrolling/protecting the border. Congress gave DHS way too much money (who are getting ready to fraudulently and absolutely abuse and waste it) but instead of being transparent (as they claim they are doing) and buying body cameras they are doing the opposite of documenting potential crimes to which would hold up in court. There’s a reason why they are losing their cases. All the while this administration is back to separating families from their loved ones in even more extreme ways. If we do have elections that don’t favor the party currently in the majority what’s to say that they will actually honor the vote and leave? Power and money are dangerous motivators but it is an even more dangerous time when the person knows they are going to lose it.

Xplisset, that is what could happen if we permit it. We need to be sure we don't. The reason ICE thugs wear masks and come armed is because they are poorly-trained or possibly disturbed cowards, but we now know there are ways to figure out who they are, maybe not all of them, but some of them. We need Republicans in Congress to be reminded over and over that they are not the employees of Donald Trump, Steve Miller, or anyone else in the white house toddler pool. They are working for and were elected by the American people of their states or districts. When we protest we must focus on behavior, not the organization itself. The same logic applies to Trump himself. We must focus on each despicable act, and let people draw their conclusions. And I’ll add one thing that keeps me weirdly hopeful: when a team is already ahead and starts playing for the highlight reel, that’s when the unforced errors pile up, Super Bowl LI style, and suddenly the clock isn’t your friend anymore. This payback posture feels like that, louder by the day, more performative by the hour, like he can’t help himself. Historically that kind of overreach is how leaders lose: the decision that creates the two-front war is often the moment the outcome gets baked in, Hitler invading Russia while already fighting elsewhere kind of miscalculation. Joan, the Military Academy teaches about three of those commanders, Arnold, Lee and MacArthur, because of either leadership or strategic skills, not because of political decisions they made. Would it be appropriate to also point out the errors they made regarding politics or loyalty? I certainly think so.

As a co-Founder of a local Indivisible chapter I am deeply concerned by the repeated assertion in my presumably progressive home state that local and state authorities have limited power to constrain federal agents and that instances of federal overreach must be addressed solely at the federal level. This position is especially troubling at a moment when we are witnessing a lawless federal administration that is terrorizing communities, endangering lives in the name of public safety, and then attempting to obscure what actually occurred.
It really is terrifying! I wonder how long it will be before neighbors start 'turning in' neighbors. The Nazis did that, and even some Jews - called 'Juden-rah' - turned in their fellow Jews. The lawless murderers and kidnappers must be held to account by the states; else we are done as a republic. trump's "Icestapo" is the key element of enforcement of his police state, and they answer only to him. History actually is repeating itself.
It's easy to see how tRump admires dictators. He's using their playbook religiously, with ongoing coaching from Orban, Putin and Netanyahu.
Minnesota disagrees and says they don't have immunity to state laws. Trump can't pardon someone breaking the law at the state level. They're sueing.
